چکیده
Histopathologically, eosinophilic infiltration in the liver (or focal eosinophilic liver disease) includes eosinophilic infiltration in the periportal space, eosinophilic abscess, and eosinophilic granuloma. Eosinophilic infiltration in the liver is related common and is often associated with various eosinophil-related conditions. It is almost correlated with eosinophilia (defined as 500 eosinophils/ l in the peripheral blood) and incidentally discovered on radiologic examinations, such as ultrasonography or computed tomography, and is usually demonstrated as multiple, small, poorly defined, round or oval nodular lesions (1-4). However, in patients with a history of malignancy, it sometimes may mimic hepatic metastases and unnecessary biopsy or surgery were performed. In this case, we described that eosinophilic infiltration in the liver presented as an unusual segmental involvement. A 68-year-old Asian female who had undergone mastectomy due to breast cancer 9 years prior to presentation at our clinic complained of fever and CASE REPORT INTRODUCTION www.ksmrm.org JKSMRM 16(1) : 76-80, 2012

Hypereosinophilic Syndrome: CT Findings in Patients with Hepatic Lobar or Segmental Involvement
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to describe the CT findings of hepatic hypereosinophilic syndrome in which hepatic lobes or segments were involved. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seven patients with hypereosinophilic syndrome with hepatic lobar or segmental involvement were included in our study. In all seven, diagnosis was based on liver biopsy and the results of corticosteroid treatment. CT ...
متن کاملComputed Tomography and Ultrasonographic Findings of Hepatic Involvement Related to Eosinophilia Mimicking Liver Metastases: Report of 2 Cases
The hypereosinophilic syndrome is a severe disease affecting multiple organ systems as the heart, skin, liver, spleen, urinary, gastrointestinal, nervous, and hematopoietic systems. The most important findings are eosinophilic infiltration and peripheral eosinophilic leukocytosis. Here, we report liver involvement and abdominal computed tomography (CT) and ultrasonography (US) characteristics o...
متن کاملEosinophilic Gastroenteritis as the Initial Manifestation of Hypereosinophilic Syndrome
Eosinophilic gastroenteritis, an inflammatory disease of unknown etiology, commonly involves the stomach and small intestine with eosinophilic infiltration. Here, we report an unusual case of eosinophilic gastroenteritis involving the entire digestive tract as a manifestation of hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES). A 22-year-old woman presented to us with diarrhoea, pleural effusion, ascites and
متن کاملA study on the relationship between clinical features with Ki67 expression and eosinophil cells infiltration in oral squamous cell carcinoma
Background :Cell proliferation is one of the most critical factors in metastasis and prognosis of the malignant tumors.Recent investigations show that the eosinophil granolosytes have an important role in developing of malignant tumors. The relation between cell proliferation and eosinophilic infiltration in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCS) with prognosis is unclear. The aim of this study w...

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis, focal or diffuse with eosinophilic infiltrations of the stomach or intestine, has been described in human beings, cats, dogs, and horses. In this paper, we describe infiltration of the gastrointestinal tract with eosinophils accompanied by a circulating eosinophilia in six ferrets (Mustela putorius furo). Clinical signs included chronic weight loss, anorexia, and d...
